Three town ideas

  • A place is a kind of naming word: school, market, park, hospital, post office, bus stop.
  • Imagine a little town: a green park, a busy market, a quiet library and a small clinic.
  • The name of a special place or person starts with a capital letter: Sunpur, River Tani, Mr Rao.
  • A general word does not: a town, a river, a man — small letter. But Sunpur, Tani, Rao — capital letter.
Remember: names of people, towns and rivers always start with a CAPITAL letter.
  • Use There is for one: “There is a park near my home.”
  • Use There are for many: “There are three shops on my street.”

Tell about your town.

Say one line with each: “There is a ___.” “There are ___.” Easy!
