Three story ideas

  • Characters are the people or animals in a story.
  • In our tale, the characters could be a clever monkey and a hungry crocodile — each one acts and speaks.
  • A story has a beginning (we meet everyone), a middle (a problem happens), and an end (the problem is solved).
  • Beginning: a monkey lives on a fruit tree. Middle: a crocodile tries to trick him. End: the monkey thinks fast and is safe.

Spot the parts.

In any story, find where it starts, what goes wrong, and how it ends. Three neat parts!

  • The smart monkey wins by thinking quickly, not by being big or strong.
  • The lesson: being clever and calm can help you out of trouble.
Note: the lesson (or moral) is the wise idea a story teaches us at the end.
