Three caring ideas

  • We have five senses: see (eyes), hear (ears), smell (nose), taste (tongue), touch (skin).
  • Even with eyes closed, you can know a lot: a soft pillow by touch, a bell by its sound, a flower by its smell.
  • Some people cannot see, so they use touch, hearing and smell even more cleverly.
  • By touch you can tell soft from hard, smooth from rough, hot from cold.
  • By sound you can tell who is speaking, or that the rain has started.

Guess game.

Close your eyes. A friend puts something in your hand — a spoon, a ball, a leaf. Can you guess it by touch? That is seeing without seeing!

  • We can help a friend who needs it — hold a hand, read aloud, share a seat.
  • Being kind means thinking about how others feel.
Kind words matter: “May I help you?” and “Thank you” make everyone feel good.

Senses and kindness around you

Knowing in the dark

At night you find your slippers or your water by touch and memory, not by sight.

Cooking smells

Your nose tells you food is ready — the warm smell of toast or rice fills the room.

Helping hands

Holding the door, guiding a younger child, sharing your lunch — small kind acts that matter.
