Three fun ideas

  • An action word (verb) tells what someone does: run, jump, sing, hop, paint, dance.
  • You can act them out! Stand up and jump — you just did an action word.
  • In a sentence, the action word is the doing part: Birds fly. Fish swim.
  • Start with “It is fun to” and add an action word: “It is fun to swim.”
  • Try more: “It is fun to draw.” “It is fun to play with friends.”

Your turn.

Pick something you love and say it: “It is fun to ___.” Did you use an action word? Well done!

  • Use is for one: The cat is sleeping.
  • Use are for more than one: The cats are sleeping.
Quick check: one → is, many → are. She is happy. They are happy.
