Three little ideas

  • Summer is hot. Winter is cold. The rainy season is wet.
  • Weather words tell about the day: hot, cold, wet, windy, sunny, cloudy.
  • Look outside — is it sunny or rainy today? Say a weather word.

Which season? The sun is very strong and you feel hot.

It is summer — the hot season.

  • In winter we wear a warm sweater, cap and socks.
  • In summer we wear light, cool clothes and drink lots of water.
  • In the rain we carry an umbrella or wear a raincoat.
  • Use a weather word in a sentence“It is hot today.” “It is raining.”
  • Match clothes to weather — cold day → sweater; rainy day → umbrella.
  • Seasons change — one season ends and the next begins, again and again.
Remember: the weather word tells us what to wear — a sweater for cold, an umbrella for rain.

You can tell your family, “It is sunny today,” or “It is raining,” using your new weather words.
